Billy was the Keeper of the Baggers. He was one of three minor characters to survive throughout the Books, with the other two characters being Clint and Jackson.
Biography[]
The Maze Runner[]
In The Maze Runner, Billy was mentioned as the Keeper of the Baggers. He was then later mentioned when he was ordered alongside Jackson by Alby to take Teresa to the Slammer after she entered the Glade.
After the Gladers Escaped the Maze, Billy was one of the 20 Gladers that had escaped.
The Scorch Trials[]
Though Billy was not mentioned, it was confirmed Billy had survived the Scorch Trials and was rescued along with the survivors of Group A and Group B.
The Death Cure[]
Though Billy was not mentioned, it was confirmed that Billy had survived and made it to the Safe Haven.
The Maze Cutter[]
In The Maze Cutter, Billy died of unknown causes 73 years after the events of The Death Cure.
Film[]
The Maze Runner[]
In The Maze Runner, Billy was one of the Gladers in the Glade. Billy was seen several times throughout the Film and wasn't much of a talker.
Billy is seen at the party and can be seen watching the fight. When Ben's sting was shown, Billy whispered something into Unnamed Glader 7's ear. Billy was later present at Ben's banishment.
When Minho arrived with Alby outside of the Maze, Billy, along with the other Gladers, started shouting to them to hurry up. Billy watched in shock as Thomas ran into the Maze after Minho and Alby.
The next day, when Thomas and Minho returned with Alby, Billy ran to the doors along with the other Gladers to greet and congratulate them. Later on, Billy was present at the meeting just before Teresa arrived.
Later, Billy witnesses Teresa wake up in the box and shout "Thomas!". Billy then looks at Thomas in confusion.
Later, Billy waits outside the council hall with the other Gladers.
The next day, Billy witnesses Thomas and Gally argue.
At night, during the Grievers Attack, Billy was seen running to the doors along with a group of Gladers to see why they weren't closing. Once they get there, the other doors around the Glade started to re-open as well and Billy looked in shock and terror. Once the Grievers started to enter the Glade, Billy ran off to the tall grass carrying a torch along with Thomas, Teresa, Zart, Jack, and Mike. While hiding in the tall grass, they heard a Glader getting killed near them and soon after, watched Zart get killed by a Griever. They ran off to go find Alby, who was being escorted to safety by Jeff and Clint. Once they met up with the Gladers that were hiding in the forest, they got attacked by a Griever. Billy watches as Teresa throws a lit candle at the Griever, and runs away along with the other Gladers. Billy sprints towards the council hall, but when Alby falls on the ground, Billy stops running and watches as Thomas protects Alby. Billy then ran off to safety, after being saved by Minho, Newt, Frypan and Tim.
The next morning, Billy watched as Gally, having taken command, threatened to offer Thomas and Teresa to the Grievers. Billy then witnesses the retaliation against Gally and listens to Thomas give his speech. Convinced by the words Thomas had said, and by the leadership he showed during the Griever attack, Billy was among the surviving Gladers who joined Thomas and the others in escaping the Maze, while Gally chooses to stay in the Glade.
Billy and the other Gladers who attempted to escape run through the maze. Billy and the other Gladers come across a griever, and attempt to get past it. Billy then witnesses the death of Mike. Billy and the other Gladers successfully push the griever off the ledge. Billy witnesses more grievers climb up and with the other Gladers, begins to attack them. Billy witnesses the deaths of Peter and Jeff and makes it to safety.
Billy, with the other Gladers, walk through a tunnel and find a laboratory with monitors of The Glade. Billy witnesses a recording with the other Gladers, which explained why they were in the maze. Just as Billy and the others were about to exit the lab, Gally, having been stung, stops them. Billy witnesses Chuck being shot in the chest by Gally and Gally being impaled in the chest with a spear by Minho, albeit non-fatally.
In the end, Billy makes it and escaped on the helicopter with the rest of the group.
The Scorch Trials[]
Billy did not appear in the The Scorch Trials.
The Death Cure[]
The name Bill was seen on the Memorial Rock. It is possible this could be referring to Billy, but it isn't confirmed.
Trivia[]
- When the Gladers are running up to the doors to investigate them, Billy is seen jogging up without a torch. However, the next scene, he is seen running up to the doors with a torch.
- Billy was the only surviving member of the main group to not make an appearance in the second film. This is because Landon Hazel, Billy's actor had personal issues and couldn't begin filming.
- It is possible he is named after Billy the Kid.
