Jack was a Glader mentioned in The Scorch Trials Book and a minor character in The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials Movies. He was a Cook who survived the Maze Trials and participated in the Scorch Trials.
Biography[]
The Maze Runner[]
In The Maze Runner, though Jack was not mentioned or seen, he survived the Maze Trials and was rescued with the other 19 Gladers.
The Scorch Trials[]
In The Scorch Trials, Jack began to build a friendship with Thomas and was tasked with looking after the injured Winston, after he was attacked and burned by a Metal Ball while ascending through the underground tunnels to the Scorch. Later, during the massive thunderstorm while the Gladers where in the Scorch, he was struck by lightning while carrying Winston, resulting in his leg and clothes being blown off, and his hair and possibly eyeballs being burned, and losing Winston. It was said that Jack had been clutching his knee and writhing in pain. He died soon after due to shock and blood loss. Thomas was affected by Jack's death heavily, though not as heavily as the deaths of Alby and Chuck.

The Maze Runner[]

In The Maze Runner, Jack was first seen when Thomas woke up in the Box. He looked down at him and smirks. He then assisted Carl in opening the gates to the Box, allowing Gally to drop down inside and pull Thomas out. He could be seen working around the Glade. When Thomas freaked out after Gally shoved him away from the Maze doors, Jack, along with Mike, John, and three other Gladers, ran over to them. He was later seen partying with the other Gladers. He watched Thomas and Gally fought each other and was present during Ben's Banishment. Throughout the rest of the film, Jack could be seen helping people around the Glade. He was later seen when Minho arrived right outside of the Glade inside the Maze trying to carry Alby back, who had been stung by a Griever. Jack started screaming at them along with the other Gladers to hurry up and get out of the Maze. He then witnessed Thomas enter the Maze. Once Thomas, Minho and Alby returned to the Glade, he witnessed Thomas and Gally argue with each other. When the doors to the Glade stayed open, Jack ran to the doors with the other Gladers. When the other doors began open, he watched in shock and terror as the Grievers came out from the Maze and entered the Glade. Jack hid in the tall grass with Thomas, Teresa, Zart, Billy and Mike. While hiding in the tall grass, Jack was one to witness Zart's death and ran out of the tall grass with the others. He then followed Thomas to go help Alby, who was injured. Once they got to Alby, the group began running away and just as they are about to be attacked by a Griever when Newt, Minho, Frypan, and Tim arrived with weapons to defend themselves. Jack fought off the Grievers alongside the other Gladers. Jack then managed to get inside the hut and hides. He then witnessed the deaths of Alby and another Glader. When Thomas ran outside, Jack followed him alongside the other Gladers and looked at the aftermath of the Attack. As Gally, having taken First-in-Command, planned to sacrifice Thomas and Teresa to the Grievers, the other Gladers rebelled against Gally, stating they were going to escape from the Maze, Jack left with them, while also convincing Peter to join him. Peter agreed and decided to go, while Gally chose to stay in the Glade with many other Gladers. Jack participated in the final battle against the Grievers and witnessed the deaths of Jeff, Mike, and Peter, whom he indirectly caused his death. Jack survived the final battle and made it out of the Maze into the laboratory. He then witnessed Gally, having escaped through unknown circumstances, and being stung by a Griever, appearing and shooting Chuck in the chest and Minho impaling Gally in the chest with a spear, albeit non-fatally, causing him to drop to his knees, drop the gun, and collapse on his right side on the floor. Jack looked at Chuck's body in sorrow. He was then escorted along with the other Gladers towards the helicopter and survived the Maze Trials and moved was rescued.
The Scorch Trials[]
In The Scorch Trials, Jack was seen with Thomas and the other Gladers inside the WCKD facility. When they first walked into the building, they arrived in a room with a big table full of food on it. The group ran over to the table and started eating all the food while laughing and having a good time together. A bit later, Jack was seen in the background relaxing after eating all the food. After eating all the food, Jack was seen being tested by a doctor and eating lunch with the other Gladers. He then listened to David and Riley's story. Later, Jack slept near Winston. Jack escaped with the rest of the group when Thomas discovered that the facility was used to harvest the Cure from the Immunes blood. When the group arrived to pick up Teresa, Jack and Newt began to tie the doctors hands up. Jack was then helped over the broken window by Thomas. Moments later, Jack witnessed Thomas firing a gun at a guard. After, he was seen running to a door with the rest of the group. Once the group figured out the key card didn't work, Jack, along with the others, looked back at Janson in fear. Aris and Winston then opened the door from the other side. Frypan told the group to go, causing Jack and the others to go through the door. Jack and the others then told Thomas to hurry up while the door was closing. Jack then witnessed Thomas open the exit gate to the Scorch and run outside with the others. Once the group escaped, they ran into an abandoned mall sinking into the sand. Jack assisted the others in finding survival gear and ran away along with the others when Cranks began chasing the group. While running away from the Cranks, he helped everyone up a flight of stairs before him, but before he could join them, he was attacked by a Crank which grabbed onto him and dragged him off the edge of the stairs. Hanging on with his hand, Jack called out to Frypan for help, but before Frypan could help him up, another Crank jumped on top of Jack, causing him to lose his grip and fall to his death along with the 2 Cranks.

Trivia[]
- His twenty seconds long death scene did not make it into the film's final cut. However, a section of it is seen during the official trailer. According to Wes Ball on the audio commentary of the deleted scenes, he said Jack's death was cut due to test audiences not noticing him.
- Jack is the only "extra" character to be seen with the main group of Gladers that escape from the WCKD facility. However, he was not the only extra not to make the final cut scene: as Tim was cut, and Billy's actor had personal issues and couldn't make it to filming. However, Tim's character returns in Maze Runner: The Death Cure.
- Bryce Romero is uncredited in the film's credits for The Scorch Trials but many sources like IMDb[1] list him as the character Jack. Wes Ball confirmed his name in the audio commentary on the deleted scenes.
- Jack also appeared in another deleted scene, "Food Fight."
- His occupation in the Glade being a cook was confirmed in a deleted scene for the first film.
- He's likely named after Andrew Jackson.
